The Shepard’s and their adopted dog BOOTS!!

This is Mark and Laurie Shepard and their dog Boots! I met them at Harry’s Place (a summertime concert event held every two weeks in Beloit, Wisconsin at Riverside Park), walking their dog Boots, enjoying the beautiful weather. My husband pointed him out as we had just been talking about Gordon Setters and he very much resembled one. As we asked more questions Mark told us that he had been driving down the road and felt this overwhelming urge to pull into a shelter that he had driven by. When he did, he went inside and saw Boots. He was settled and quiet, unlike all the other dogs in the shelter who were loud, barking, trying to get your attention. He was drawn to him and adopted him. They had just lost their Cocker Spaniel a bit before due to cancer at a very early age! They tell me that Boots has NEVER been a bit of trouble, has been a gem since the moment they adopted him and they love him unconditionally. Just to see this happy boy “walking” his family on a lovely summer night warms my soul. THAT is what it’s all about, having that overwhelming feeling, listening to it, and doing what it tells you…and it this case ADOPTION was the calling!
